Day by day

The rhythm of your journey.

8 considered days, each with room for the unexpected moments that make travel memorable.

01Day
Arrival

Londorossi to forest camp

Registration, trailhead transfer and a gentle first walk through montane forest.

Highlight: The first quiet steps beneath Kilimanjaro’s dense montane forest canopy.

What to expect: Registration and a vehicle transfer precede a gentle walk on uneven forest trail.

02Day
Discover

Shira Ridge

Climb out of the forest toward heather and open plateau.

Highlight: Emerging above the forest into open heath with widening mountain views.

What to expect: A steady uphill walking day as vegetation thins and the air becomes cooler.

03Day
Discover

Across Shira Plateau

A steady acclimatisation day beneath Kibo.

Highlight: Crossing the broad Shira Plateau beneath the high slopes of Kibo.

What to expect: Sustained walking over open terrain at a deliberately measured acclimatisation pace.

04Day
Discover

Lava Tower to Barranco

Climb high and sleep lower to support acclimatisation.

Highlight: Reaching the stark volcanic landscape around Lava Tower before descending.

What to expect: A longer high-altitude day over rocky ground, followed by descent to a lower camp.

05Day
Immerse

Barranco to Karanga

Cross the Barranco Wall and traverse dramatic southern slopes.

Highlight: Climbing the Barranco Wall with the southern glaciers above you.

What to expect: A hands-on but non-technical scramble followed by an undulating mountain traverse.

06Day
Immerse

Karanga to Barafu

A shorter ascent and early rest before summit night.

Highlight: Arriving at high camp with the summit route rising directly ahead.

What to expect: A shorter, steep ascent followed by equipment preparation and an early rest.

07Day
Immerse

Uhuru Peak

Climb before dawn to Stella Point and Uhuru Peak, then descend to lower camp.

Highlight: Reaching Uhuru Peak as morning light spreads across the summit ice and plains.

What to expect: A cold midnight start, slow steep climbing and a long descent after the summit.

08Day
Farewell

Mweka Gate

Complete the forest descent and return to your hotel for recovery.

Highlight: The final walk through rainforest and the completion of the mountain journey.

What to expect: Several hours of downhill walking, gate formalities and a transfer back to the hotel.
